The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southwestern Bolivar County in northwestern Mississippi...
northwestern Washington County in northwestern Mississippi...

* until 715 PM CDT

* at 417 PM CDT... local law enforcement reported flooding in
Greenville. Radar indicates six to eight inches of rain have
fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greenville... Scott... Metcalfe... Winterville... Jersey Point and
Lamont.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River near Greenville
* from late tonight until further notice.
* At 10:00 am Sunday the stage was 47.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage by Monday July 06
and will continue to rise to near 49.0 feet by Thursday July 16.
* Impact... at 48.0 feet... water begins to cover the dirt Road leading
to the farmers grain terminal facility which is north of the
Greenville bridge.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Arkansas... northeast Louisiana and
Mississippi... including the following areas... in southeast
Arkansas... Ashley and Chicot. In northeast Louisiana... East
Carroll... Madison... Morehouse... Richland and West Carroll. In
Mississippi... Humphreys... Issaquena... Sharkey... Warren...
Washington and Yazoo.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue to impact the same areas
through early evening and produce rainfall amounts in the 1 to 2
inch range with some locally higher amounts possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

* Flood Advisory for
the Mississippi River near Arkansas City.
* Until Monday evening.
* At 10:00 am Sunday the stage was 35.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 36.5 feet by Wednesday July
15.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the low Silt plain in front of Arkansas City
inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
bottomland flooding at Huntington Point Mississippi.
* Impact... at 35.0 feet... the Road to Donaldson Point is cut off.
