Special Statement
Statement as of 1:37 PM CDT on March 30, 2015

... Very high fire danger this afternoon...

The combination of dry/cured vegetation... low relative
humidity between 20 to 25 percent... and west winds gusting up to
30 mph... will result in a very high grassland fire danger though
this afternoon. If a grass fire were to develop it would spread
rapidly.

The fire danger will gradually decrease through the evening
hours as winds subside and relative humidity increases.

Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 11:50 AM CDT on March 30, 2015

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening
for extreme fire conditions... .

* wind... southwest to west winds at 20 to 25 mph with frequent
gusts to 30 mph.

* Relative humidity... 15 to 20 percent this afternoon.

* Fuel... grasses remain nearly 100 percent cured across the
warning area.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will have the potential to
spread very rapidly due to windy and dry conditions. Any
outdoor burning is highly discouraged and should be avoided
today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
