Statement as of 5:32 PM HST on September 04, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
the island of Kauai in Kauai County

* until 830 PM HST

* at 524 PM HST... radar showed heavy rain 6 miles west of Kapaa... or
about 12 miles northwest of Lihue. The area of heavy rain was
nearly stationary. Radar estimated rainfall rates were up to 3
inches per hour... and the gage on the Hanalei river showed a rapid
rise that would produce flash flooding along kuhio Highway before
6 PM HST.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Haena... Wainiha... Na Pali State Park... Moloaa... Kalalau Valley...
Princeville... Kilauea... Hanalei and Anahola.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring
in streams... roads and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

This Flash Flood Warning replaces the Flood Advisory that was in
effect for the island of Kauai in Kauai County.

This warning may need to be extended beyond 830 PM HST if flash
flooding persists.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch, High Surf Advisory
Statement as of 4:38 PM HST on September 04, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the

* Flood Advisory for the island of Kauai in Kauai County

* until 645 PM HST

* at 430 PM HST... radar showed heavy rain 8 miles west of Kapaa... or
about 11 miles northwest of Lihue. The area of heavy rain was
nearly stationary.

* Other locations in the advisory include the entire island of Kauai.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for Kauai through 6 PM
Saturday.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 645 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

434 PM HST Fri Sep 4 2015

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 6 PM HST Saturday...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Kauai... Niihau and Oahu.

* Until 6 PM HST Saturday.

* A very moist air mass... together with an upper level trough just
west of the state... likely will produce locally heavy showers
and thunderstorms through Saturday. Saturated soils from recent
and current rainfall will increase the risk for flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Remember
that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for
flash flooding to occur.

Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate
action if flash flood warnings are issued.

407 PM HST Fri Sep 4 2015

break... and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

by ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Boaters should
expect recreational surfers and body boarders utilizing Harbor
channels to access surfing areas.
