Statement as of 3:42 PM HST on July 27, 2015

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for the island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* until 545 PM HST

* at 330 PM HST... radar showed heavy showers falling along the
leeward slopes mainly in the north and south kohala districts.
Radar estimated rain falling at rates of around 2 inches per hour
in the heaviest showers near and along Kawaihae Road.

* Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Kawaihae... Waikoloa Village and Puuanahulu.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Stay away from streams... drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding... reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
Turn around... Don/T drown.


This advisory may need to be extended beyond 545 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 am HST Tuesday.

* Surf... along south facing shores of all islands... 6 to 9 feet
tonight.

* Timing... through tonight.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves... shore
break... and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Beachgoers... swimmers... and surfers should heed all advice given
by ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Know your
limits... when in doubt... do not go out.
