... Heat advisory in effect until 9 PM PDT Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect until 9 PM PDT Wednesday.

* Locations: the North Bay area... the East Bay area and the Santa
Clara Valley.

* Timing: temperatures will rise rapidly today peaking in the
afternoon hours. Overnight temperatures will cool into the low
to mid 60s but will rise quickly once again on
Wednesday... peaking in the afternoon.

* Temperatures: inland highs are expected to reach the upper 90s
to 108.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned
room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and
neighbors.

Special Statement
Statement as of 5:02 AM PDT on June 30, 2015

A ridge of high pressure will continue to build over the western
U.S. Resulting in a rapid rise in temperatures today and
Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to peak on Wednesday with
inland highs forecast to rise into the 90s with warmest inland
locations reaching up to 108 degrees. A gentle sea breeze will aid
in keeping the immediate coast including much of the San Francisco
Bay area cooler.

If you are planning on working or recreating outdoors today or
Wednesday please drink plenty of water and whenever possible seek
shelter from the heat. Never leave children or the elderly
unattended in a vehicle. Remember... beat the heat... check the back
seat. Also don't Forget about your pets. Never leave your pet
unattended in a vehicle and be sure to provide plenty of water and
shade to outdoor animals.

Slightly cooler temperatures are expected for the second half of
the week and into the weekend as high pressure over the region
gradually weakens.
