The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
north central Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* until 800 PM PDT

* at 455 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near
Acton and Agua Dulce producing heavy rain. Rainfall rates of one
to two inches per hour are expected. Flash flooding is expected to
begin shortly for the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lancaster... Palmdale... Acton... Quartz Hill... Littlerock... Lake
Palmdale... and Highway 14 between Santa Clarita and Palmdale.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northeastern Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* until 615 PM PDT

* at 310 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to
begin shortly if not already occurring. These thunderstorms are
capable of producing dangerous cloud to ground lightning... strong
gusty winds and small hail. Large hail may also occur.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wrightwood... Llano... Pearblossom... and Big Pines. The Pine burn
area may also be affected... producing dangerous debris flows.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. The heavy rains will likely
trigger Rockslides... mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain... especially in and around these areas.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 545 PM PDT for
the mountains in northwestern Los Angeles and northeastern
Ventura counties...

At 335 PM PDT... Doppler radar continued to indicate a cluster of
strong thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall across northwest
Los Angeles County and northeast Ventura County. Flash flooding will
continue to impact the warning area through 545 PM... including
Interstate 5 and Highway 138. The heaviest rainfall between 240 and
340 PM has occurred along Interstate 5 near Pyramid Lake and Castaic
lake... where Doppler radar has estimated over 2 inches per hour.

Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud and rock
slides near steep terrain... potentially impacting portions of
Interstate 5 and Highway 138.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Gorman...
Pyramid Lake... Castaic lake... Interstate 5... and Highway 138
near Quail Lake.

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* areas in and near the Colby burn area in the San Gabriel
valley.

* Through this evening.

* Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or greater are possible
with some storms.

* Impacts... heavy rain could lead to flash flooding... mud and
debris flows... and Rockslides in and near the Colby burn area.
Roads could be closed due to water flowing over them as well
as mud and rocks washing onto them.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Residents in the watch area or those traveling into the watch
area should check the latest National Weather Service statements
and possible warnings. Also... check the latest Road conditions.
