Nowcast | as of 3:23 PM MDT on September 16, 2014

An of mainly light showers extends from west of a Ruidoso El Paso line.Doppler weather radar shows most activity moving northeastward around 10 to 15 mph . Doppler radar shows most precipitation is light however there are some isolated areas of moderate to heavy showers northwest of Hermanas and around Rock Hound State Park in Luna County where from .5 to 1.0 inch of rain had fallen in the last hour. Heavier showers and possible thunderstorms are starting to develop over northern Mexico and may move into the southern most reaches of the Borderland during the next 2 hours. A lot of land is fairly saturated after last nights rain thus it will not take much more rainfall to cause serious flooding problems. Forecast models call for another round of heavy rain moving into the Borderland from the south in the 6 to 9 PM time frame. Stay alert for forecast updates...advisories and warnings. Do not enter areas where water is ponding or running across roadways.
