Nowcast | as of 8:53 PM MDT on September 2, 2015

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are continuing over most of the forecast area except for eastern portions of Otero and Hudspeth counties and these areas may see some activity later tonight. Weather radar shows most activity is moving moving to the north northeast around 10 to 15 mph. The most active areas at this time are in the bootheel...western Sierra County...norther Dona Ana County...and an area in northern Mexico starting to move into El Paso County and southern Dona Ana County. Rainfall rates in the active areas are estimated at .2 to .5 inches per hour. As subtropical moisture continues to flow northward from Mexico...periods of moderate to briefly heavy rainfall with local low area flooding are still possible into the night. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph and isolated cloud to ground lightning are also possible with these storms. Do not drive into areas where water is ponding or running across the Road. Flooded areas are more difficult to see at night.
