The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* until 700 PM MDT

* at 453 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
thunderstorm producing torrential rain and penny sized hail along
State Road 129 just south of Conchas Dam. Flash flooding is likely
especially near the intersection of State Road 129 and State Road
104. Rainfall amounts up to 2 inches in less than an hour can be
expected.

* Locations impacted include...
Conchas Lake State Park... Conchas Dam and Conchas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to
cross water covered bridges... dips... or low water crossings.

Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:46 PM MDT on August 01, 2015

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
north central Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...
south central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...

* until 615 PM MDT

* at 443 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to numerous slow moving thunderstorms extending
from near Conchas Dam westward to 15 miles northeast of Anton
Chico. Rainfall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour will be
common with any thunderstorm. Of particular concern will be areas
along State Road 104 and State Road 129. The storms will slowly
move toward the east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Colonias and Variadero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until midnight MDT tonight...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of north and central nm...
including the following areas... Central Highlands... eastern San
Miguel County... far northeast Highlands... Guadalupe County...
Harding County... northeast Highlands and Quay County.

* Until midnight MDT tonight

* a very moist airmass remains in place over northeast New
Mexico... and this will support scattered to numerous showers
and thunderstorms in the watch area. Periods of heavy rainfall
may lead to flash flooding with rainfall rates commonly 1 to 3
inches per hour.

* Flash flooding will be most susceptible around steep terrain...
urban drainages... and areas that have recently experienced heavy
rainfall over the past few days.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
