Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 5:30 PM MDT on July 06, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 4 am MDT Tuesday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central nm... including the following
areas... Estancia valley... Jemez Mountains... lower Chama River
Valley... lower Rio Grande Valley... middle Rio Grande
Valley/Albuquerque Metro area... northern Sangre de Cristos above
9500 feet/Red River... northwest Highlands... San Juan Mountains...
Sandia/Manzano Mountains... Santa Fe Metro area... south Central
Highlands... south central mountains... southern Sangre de Cristos
above 9500 feet... Southwest Mountains... upper Rio Grande Valley...
west Central Highlands... west central mountains and west slopes
Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

* Until 4 am MDT Tuesday

* a back door cold front moving into the area will continue to
focus numerous slow moving showers and thunderstorms through the
overnight. Due to a very moist and unstable atmosphere in
place... any storm will be capable of very heavy rain. Slow
moving or training storms will exacerbate the flash flooding
threat. One to two inches of rain is likely... with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Burn scar areas and very steep terrain... locations that have
received recent heavy rainfall... and urban drainages will be the
most susceptible to flash flooding if heavy rainfall develops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
