Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:21 AM MDT on May 05, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon MDT today through this
evening...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Colorado... east
central Colorado... north central Colorado and northeast
Colorado... including the following areas... in central
Colorado... Jefferson and west Douglas counties above 6000
feet/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Northeast Park counties below 9000
feet. In east central Colorado... north and northeast Elbert
County below 6000 feet/North Lincoln County. In north central
Colorado... Larimer and Boulder counties between 6000 and 9000
feet. In northeast Colorado... Elbert/central and East Douglas
counties above 6000 feet.

* From noon MDT today through this evening

* rain showers will become more numerous and heavier late this
morning into the afternoon hours. The heavier showers and a few
embedded thunderstorms will be capable of producing up to 1.5
inches of rain in an hour... and heavier amounts will be possible
with persistent showers and storms. This would produce flash
flooding especially in areas that saw more significant rainfall
last night. This includes the foothills... Front Range burn
scars... and Palmer Divide area across much of Douglas and Elbert
counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
