The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Randall County in the Panhandle of Texas...
southern Potter County in the Panhandle of Texas...

* until 200 PM CDT Monday

* Amarillo/Potter/Randall emergency management reported Playa Lake
flooding in and around Amarillo. 1 to 2 inches of rain fell early
this morning across parts of Amarillo. Additional rain will be
possible later today or tonight. Playa Lake flooding is occurring
and may worsen with additional rainfall.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
canyon... Amarillo...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Playa Lake floods are occurring at Playa Lake number 7 (greenways
playa)... Lawrence Lake... McDonald Lake... Diamond Horseshoe
Lake... McCarty Lake. Willow Grove Lake is at capacity. Do not drive
through barricaded roadways. Any additional rainfall this afternoon
or tonight will cause flooded roadways and will threaten property.
Homeowners near Playa Lakes are urged to keep a close eye on
rainfall and prepare to evacuate flooded areas immediately.

Statement as of 12:03 AM CDT on August 03, 2015

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
northern Randall County in the Panhandle of Texas...
Potter County in the Panhandle of Texas...

* until 400 am CDT

* at 1203 am CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists detected
an area of thunderstorms with heavy rainfall along a line extending
from 4 miles north of Bushland to 3 miles southwest of Lake
Tanglewood. Very heavy rain has already fallen over parts of the
advisory area with additional heavy rain expected. Runoff from this
excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur... especially along
small streams and near low water crossings.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Amarillo... Lake Tanglewood... valley de Oro...
Bushland... Timbercreek Canyon...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will result in flooding of many
streets across the city of Amarillo... especially in poor drainage
areas. Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roadways as the high
water levels... up to several feet deep in some instances... may cause
cars to stall and pose a hazard to public safety.
