The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 730 PM CDT

* at 524 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area... which includes a small part of
southern Travis County. Up to two inches of rain have already
fallen near Lakeway and Sunset Valley. Flash flooding is expected
to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin... Lakeway... Bee Cave... West Lake Hills... the hills...
Rollingwood... Mansfield dam... Barton creek... Hudson Bend... Sunset
Valley and Lost Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Remain alert for flooding even in
locations not receiving rain. Creeks... streams and rivers can become
raging killer currents in a matter of minutes... even from distant
rainfall.

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southwestern Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 745 PM CDT

* at 450 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to slow
moving thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream
flooding in the advisory area... which covers much of western and
southern portions of the Austin Metro area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin... Tanglewood Forest... Lakeway... Lago Vista... Bee Cave... West
Lake Hills... the hills... Rollingwood... Barton creek... Mansfield
dam... Shady Hollow... Hudson Bend... Briarcliff... Sunset Valley... San
Leanna... Lost Creek and Manchaca.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. Most flood deaths occur
in automobiles. Turn around... dont drown.

* Through Sunday morning

* a cold front and several outflow boundaries will help trigger
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across south
central Texas this afternoon and tonight. Some storms could
move slowly... and produce locally heavy rainfall. Between 1 to 2
inches of rain is possible... with isolated amounts up to 3
inches.

* Due to the very moist conditions of the grounds and soils in
the area... rapid flash flooding of creeks... streams... low
water crossings and some roadways will be possible where heavy
rain develops.

A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible in or near
the watch area. If you are in the watch area... plan now for what
you will do if flash flooding develops. Stay informed and be
