Special Statement
Statement as of 4:09 AM CDT on July 30, 2015

... Elevated afternoon heat index values continue today into
Friday...

High temperatures will again reach into the upper 90s to near 103
across much of south central Texas today and Friday. Humid
conditions will persist with only light to moderate breezes in the
early to middle parts of the afternoon... making for uncomfortable
outdoor conditions and rising heat index values. Maximum
afternoon heat index values today and Friday should be mainly in
the 104 to 108 degree range... with the hottest conditions expected
generally south and east of a line from del Rio to Bulverde to
Liberty Hill.

Late afternoon and evening thunderstorms will be possible today
and Friday... possibly bringing gusty outflow winds and some
slight relief from the heat in the evening and overnight hours.

Take extra precautions if you plan to be outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous afternoon activities for the early
morning or evening hours. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

If you are outdoors... drink plenty of water... wear light weight
and light colored clothing... and take frequent breaks from the
heat. Never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle... as
interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Beat the heat... check the back seat!
