Coastal Hazard Statement, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 8:32 PM CDT on May 23, 2015

... High rip current risk remains in effect through Monday evening...

* timing... through Monday evening.

* Impacts... will pose a hazard to even experienced swimmers...
especially near rock groins... jetties and piers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

There is a high risk of rip currents. Life threatening rip currents
are likely in the surf zone.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore... which occur most often at low spots or breaks in The
Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins... jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards... beach patrol... flags and
signs. Swim near a lifeguard.

If you become caught in a rip current... do not panic. Yell for help.
Do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help.
If you have to swim out of a rip current... swim parallel to shore
and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim
directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.

506 PM CDT Sat may 23 2015

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect from midnight tonight through
Monday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of southeast Texas... including the following
counties... Austin... Brazoria... Brazos... Burleson... Chambers...
Colorado... Fort Bend... Galveston... Grimes... Harris... Houston...
Jackson... Liberty... Madison... Matagorda... Montgomery... Polk...
San Jacinto... Trinity... Walker... Waller... Washington and
Wharton.

* From midnight tonight through Monday evening

* at least two rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move
through southeast Texas in association with a pair of upper
disturbances. The first round is expected after midnight tonight
and Sunday. The second round should move through Monday
afternoon and night. Periods of precipitation are expected
between the two disturbances as well.

Total rainfall accumulations between now and Tuesday will likely
range between 2 to 5 inches across most of southeast Texas.
However... due to the high potential for training rains and a
favorable upper level pattern... isolated totals of 7 to 11 inches
are very possible. Localized... but possible.
