... Elevated afternoon heat index values expected today through
the weekend...

peak heat index values of 103 to 108 degrees are expected today
during the late morning through afternoon hours. The greatest
threat for high heat index values today will reside primarily in
the coastal counties. Heat advisories may be needed as early as
Thursday as high temperatures slowly rise heading into the
weekend.

Residents with any outdoor activity plans are urged to drink
plenty of water... wear light weight and light colored
clothing... and take frequent indoor or shaded area breaks away
from the heat. Young children and pets should never be left
unattended in vehicles under any circumstances! Car interiors can
reach lethal high temperatures within a matter of minutes.
