Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:07 PM CDT on July 07, 2015

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Hughes County in southeastern Oklahoma...
central Atoka County in southeastern Oklahoma...
eastern Coal County in southeastern Oklahoma...

* until 100 am CDT

* at 1005 PM CDT... National Weather Service radar indicated heavy
rain that will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area.
While rainfall rates have not been all that impressive... generally
a half inch to an inch per hour... the ground is saturated... and
any additional rainfall will likely cause flooding.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include
Atoka... Coalgate... Stringtown... Tushka... Lehigh... Phillips...
Wardville and Olney.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks... streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in
Norman.
