Nowcast | as of 7:35 am CDT on October 2, 2014

At 7:34 am...National Weather Service Doppler radars detected a line of showers and thunderstorms across eastern Oklahoma...and the far northwest corner of Arkansas. New development was underway west of Highway 75. This activity continues to lift northeast at around 30 mph. Through 9:00 am...scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist for locations across the area...mainly along and north of a line from Durant Oklahoma to Bentonville Arkansas. Locally heavy downpours are likely...where hourly rainfall rates may exceed one inch. Average hourly rainfall across the affected areas will vary from around one tenth to one quarter inch. Frequent lightning will also be common. The severe weather risk this morning remains low...however isolated stronger storms will be capable of producing large hail and gusty winds.
