Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 11:57 PM CDT on May 24, 2015

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Creek County in northeast Oklahoma...
northwestern Okmulgee County in northeast Oklahoma...
northwestern Wagoner County in northeast Oklahoma...
Nowata County in northeast Oklahoma...
Okfuskee County in east central Oklahoma...
Osage County in northeast Oklahoma...
Pawnee County in northeast Oklahoma...
Tulsa County in northeast Oklahoma...
Washington County in northeast Oklahoma...
western Rogers County in northeast Oklahoma...

* until noon CDT Monday

* at 1156 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
that the heavy rainfall had ended across the warned area. The heavy
rains from the weekend has caused area lakes... small creeks and
streams... low water crossings as well as the major rivers to flood.
This flooding will likely continue through tonight and into
Monday... if not longer.

Area lakes are near or slightly over full capacity. High releases
are required and this may flood the downstream river. Also...
tributaries that feed into these reservoirs will also back up and
flood until lake levels get under control. Runoff from this
excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur.

Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Bartlesville... Bristow... Broken Arrow... Claremore... Nowata...
Okemah... Okmulgee... Pawhuska... Pawnee... Sand Springs... Tulsa...
Avant... Barnsdall... Bartlesville Municipal Airport... Bearden...
Beggs... Bigheart... Bixby... Blackburn... Boley... Burbank... Castle...
Catoosa... Clearview... Cleveland... Collinsville... Copan...
Delaware... Depew and Dewey.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the Road to
unknown depths. It only takes two feet of rushing water to carry away
most sport utility vehicles and pickups. Take a different Route to
reach your destination or wait until the water recedes. Remember...
most flood related deaths occur in automobiles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Do
not enter the water. Turn around and move up to higher ground to
escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
