At 1:50 PM...National Weather Service radars detected showers and thunderstorms spreading across portions of eastern Oklahoma and also northwest Arkansas. Widespread showers with embedded thunderstorms were located mainly along and south of a line from Okmulgee to near Fort Smith. Also a line of showers and storms was along and near a line from Grainola to Claremore to Tahlequah in northeast Oklahoma. All of these showers and storms were moving toward the north and northeast at around 25 miles per hour. Through 3:00 am...showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop and move across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Some of the storms could become strong... with the main threats being large hail and strong winds. Hourly rainfall amounts from a couple hundredths of an inch to near a half inch will be possible...with locally higher amounts around one inch per hour will be possible within the stronger thunderstorm activity.
