... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 1 PM CDT this afternoon
through Tuesday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Arkansas...
eastern Arkansas... north central Arkansas... southeast Arkansas
and southwest Arkansas... including the following areas... in
central Arkansas... Faulkner... Grant... Lonoke... prairie...
Pulaski and white. In eastern Arkansas... Jackson... Monroe and
Woodruff. In north central Arkansas... Baxter... Cleburne...
Fulton... Independence... Izard... sharp and stone. In southeast
Arkansas... Arkansas... Bradley... Cleveland... Desha... Drew...
Jefferson and Lincoln. In southwest Arkansas... Calhoun...
Dallas and Ouachita.

* From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through Tuesday afternoon

* widespread showers and thunderstorms will move into the state
from the west on Sunday afternoon. These storms will produce
rainfall amounts in excess of 2 to 4 inches statewide... with
locally higher amounts... in western Arkansas from Sunday
afternoon through Monday morning. A second round of heavy rain
is expected Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon and will
produce an additional 2 to 4 inches statewide... with locally
higher amounts... in southwest Arkansas.

* The soil across much of Arkansas remains saturated from the
heavy rainfall that occurred during the month of may. Many
rivers and streams are still at unseasonably high levels...
with any additional heavy rainfall only increasing the
potential for flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

From the National Weather Service in Little Rock ... the Flood
Advisory continues for
the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff.
* Until Sunday morning.
* At 9:00 PM Saturday the stage was 40.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 42.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will fall to near 39.9 feet by early
Sunday morning. However additional rainfall is expected later
this weekend. Please monitor the latest forecasts for any updates.
* Impacts 40.0 feet... water over the Road to island Harbour estates.
Flooding of cropland inside the levees. Residents of the island Harbour
area should monitor the river for any additional rises and take whatever
steps necessary to protect their property. Some trails at the agfc Delta
rivers nature center are covered by water and must be partially closed.
