Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:40 AM CDT on May 29, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Saturday evening...

The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Arkansas... north
central Arkansas... southwest Arkansas and western Arkansas...
including the following areas... in central Arkansas... Conway...
Garland... Perry... Pope... Saline and Yell. In north central
Arkansas... Baxter... Boone... Fulton... Izard... Marion... Newton...
Searcy... sharp... stone and Van Buren. In southwest Arkansas...
Clark... Hot Spring and Pike. In western Arkansas... Johnson...
Logan... Montgomery... Polk and Scott.

* Through Saturday evening

* there will be several rounds of rainfall this weekend... as a
slow moving system is over the Southern Plains. While rainfall
totals will generally be one to two inches with each
round... this rainfall combined with saturated ground... will
likely bring flash flooding to the northwest half of the state.
This includes much of the northwest half of the
state... generally north of a line from Arkadelphia... to
Morrilton... to Mountain View... to Ash Flat.

* In addition... area rivers and streams are already flooding or
near bank full. Any additional rainfall will not be able to
drain into waterways... increasing the threat for flash flooding.
This is of greatest concern in the higher terrain
areas... including the Ouachita and Ozark mountain regions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
