The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Ashley County in southeastern Arkansas...
southern Chicot County in southeastern Arkansas...

* until 545 PM CDT

* at 235 PM CDT... trained weather spotters reported a thunderstorm
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Eight to twelve
inches of rain have fallen. Trained weather spotters report
numerous roads are flooded and water had entered houses in the
area from around Wilmot to Portland.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hamburg... Eudora... Wilmot... Portland... Montrose... Parkdale...
Fountain Hill... Berlin... Snyder and Chicot Junction.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the
warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* at 112 PM CDT... local law enforcement reported heavy rain across
the warned area. Five to six inches of rain have fallen. Flash
flooding has been reported in Greenville and Lake Village.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greenville... Leland... Lake Village... Dermott... Avon... Scott...
Metcalfe... Benoit... McMillan Corner... Glen Allan... Winterville...
Wayside... Lamont... Jersey Point and Halley.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River near Greenville
* from late tonight until further notice.
* At 10:00 am Sunday the stage was 47.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise above flood stage by Monday July 06
and will continue to rise to near 49.0 feet by Thursday July 16.
* Impact... at 48.0 feet... water begins to cover the dirt Road leading
to the farmers grain terminal facility which is north of the
Greenville bridge.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue to impact the same areas
through early evening and produce rainfall amounts in the 1 to 2
inch range with some locally higher amounts possible.

the Mississippi River near Arkansas City.
* Until Monday evening.
* At 10:00 am Sunday the stage was 35.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to near 36.5 feet by Wednesday July
15.
* Impact... at 37.0 feet... the low Silt plain in front of Arkansas City
inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
bottomland flooding at Huntington Point Mississippi.
* Impact... at 35.0 feet... the Road to Donaldson Point is cut off.
