* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
northeastern St. Landry Parish in central Louisiana...
south central Avoyelles Parish in central Louisiana...

* until 430 PM CDT

* at 359 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm
capable of producing quarter size hail. This storm was located over
Big Cane... or near Palmetto... and moving east at 35 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Melville... Palmetto... Bayou Current... Big Cane... Goudeau and
Lebeau.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds... destructive hail...
deadly lightning and very heavy rain. For your protection... move to
an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. Heavy
rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water
covers the Road.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Louisiana and Texas... including the following
areas... in Louisiana... Acadia... Allen... Avoyelles...
Beauregard... Calcasieu... East Cameron... Evangeline... Iberia...
Jefferson Davis... Lafayette... lower St. Martin... Rapides... St.
Landry... St. Mary... upper St. Martin... Vermilion... Vernon and
West Cameron. In Texas... Hardin... Jefferson... northern
Jasper... northern Newton... Orange... southern Jasper... southern
Newton and Tyler.

* Through Tuesday morning

* numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop
through Monday across the area. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
inches are expected with locally higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches
possible.

* Areas that see heavy rainfall within a short time could
receive flood water to depths that would impact property and
people in those areas. Area creeks... streams and rivers are
also likely to experience rises.
