Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 10:39 AM CDT on April 25, 2015

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
north central Vermilion Parish in southwestern Louisiana...
southeastern St. Landry Parish in central Louisiana...
northwestern St. Martin Parish in south central Louisiana...
Lafayette Parish in south central Louisiana...
eastern Acadia Parish in southwestern Louisiana...

* until 145 PM CDT

* at 1037 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lafayette... Opelousas... Scott... Breaux Bridge... Rayne... Carencro...
St. Martinville... Church Point... Leonville... Arnaudville...
Broussard... Youngsville... sunset... Duson... Maurice... Grand
Coteau... Cankton... Cecilia... branch and ridge.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible in a short period
of time. This additional rain will cause minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles
away.
