Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding occurs move up to higher ground to
escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.

continue to rise to near 22.2 feet by Sunday early afternoon.The

* Impact... at 23.0 feet... overlow on the right bank is in several
swift channels over Road y 5, 3 miles north of reading.

* At 10:36 PM Saturday the stage was 14.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 19.5 feet by Sunday evening.The river will
fall below flood stage by early Monday morning.
* Impact... at 19.5 feet... prairie street, north of the bridge, floods.

continue to rise to near 26.0 feet by Monday early afternoon.
* Impact... at 26.0 feet... water covers large areas over both banks.

* At 10:30 PM Saturday the stage was 10.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Monday morning and
continue to rise to near 23.8 feet by early Wednesday morning.
* Impact... at 24.0 feet... Highway k 99 on the South Bank floods.

... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 230 am CDT for
southern Wabaunsee... northern Coffey... Lyon... eastern Morris and
Osage counties...

At 1040 PM CDT... local law enforcement officials reported flash
flooding over the warned area. The flash flooding was particularly
widespread in Lyon... Osage... and Coffey counties where numerous
roads had been closed. Additional moderate to heavy rain is expected
through the night and may worsen the flooding situation.

the Cottonwood River near Plymouth.
* From Sunday afternoon until late Wednesday night.
* At 8:00 PM Saturday the stage was 12.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 33.3 feet by Tuesday evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by Wednesday early afternoon.
* Impact... at 34.0 feet... Road a becomes completely inundated near the
river gage site, south of Hwy 50.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of east central Kansas and northeast Kansas...
including the following areas... in east central Kansas...
Anderson... Coffey... Douglas... Franklin... Lyon... Morris...
Osage... Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In northeast Kansas... Brown...
Jackson and Jefferson.

* Through Monday morning

* periods of moderate to heavy rain will pass through the area
this evening through Sunday afternoon. Rainfall amounts of two
to four inches are expected to be common... with local amounts
over five inches possible. With wet ground conditions and
elevated river levels from recent rainfall... flash flooding
and river flooding may result.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible but not
imminent in the watch area. Persons in the watch area are advised
to check preparedness requirements... keep informed... and be ready
