Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 1:09 PM CST on March 04, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Thursday...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow remains in effect until
6 am CST Thursday.

* Short term trends... the precipitation type has now changed over
to all snow across the area. Pockets of heavy snow are occurring
early this evening across portions of southern and south central
Missouri where snowfall rates of one inch a hour are expected. Snow
will continue to accumulate into this evening and accumulations
may increase some once the sun begins to set for the evening
commute. Snow will end from north to south this evening into the
overnight hours.

* Timing and areas affected... areas along and southeast of a line
from Kimberling City... to Marshfield to Salem until early
Thursday morning.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... storm total snowfall of 4 to 6
inches of snow are expected across southern and south central
Missouri through this evening.

* Winds and visibility... gusty north winds... combined with
moderate to at times heavy snow... will likely result in
visibility below one mile for much of the day.

* Impacts... snow on top of the sleet that fell early today will
likely result in considerable travel impacts across the area
through the day today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... consider taking a winter storm
kit along with you. This kit should include such items as tire
chains... booster cables... a flashlight... shovel... blankets...
extra clothing and anything else that would help you survive in
case you become stranded.
