Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 11:05 AM CST on March 04, 2015

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am CST
Thursday...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow... sleet and freezing rain
remains in effect until 6 am CST Thursday.

* Short term trends... wintry weather is occurring across the area
this morning as freezing rain is falling across far south
central Missouri with an area of sleet from Branson to West
Plains Missouri... and all snow north of this line. By early
afternoon the precipitation will change to all snow... with
freezing rain becoming sleet first. A glaze to around a tenth of
an inch of ice is possible... with around one half of an inch to
near one inch of sleet possible before all snow occurs across
far southern Missouri.

A heavier band of snow will setup along the Interstate 44
corridor late this morning into early this afternoon and will
slide south through the afternoon and evening hours. Snow will
continue to accumulate into this evening. Snow will end from
north to south this evening into the overnight hours.

* Timing and areas affected... areas along and southeast of a line
from Kimberling City... to Marshfield to Salem from this morning
until early Thursday morning.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... a half inch or more of sleet...
along with 4 to 6 inches of snow will be possible. The heavier
sleet accumulations will occur in the southern portions of the
warning area.

* Ice accumulations... a few hundredths to around twelve hundredths of
an inch of freezing rain will be possible by late this morning.

* Winds and visibility... gusty north winds... combined with
moderate to at times heavy snow... will likely result in
visibility below one mile for much of the day.

* Impacts... a combination of sleet... snow... and freezing rain will
likely result in considerable travel impacts across the area
through the day today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you. This kit should
include such items as tire chains... booster cables... a
flashlight... shovel... blankets... extra clothing and anything else
that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
