Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:11 PM CDT on May 24, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri... including the
following areas... in southeast Kansas... Bourbon... Cherokee
and Crawford. In Missouri... Barton... Benton... Cedar... Dade...
Hickory... Morgan... Polk... St. Clair and Vernon.

* Through Monday morning

* showers and some thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will impact
southern Missouri and extreme southeastern Kansas tonight.
Additional rainfall amounts up to one inch are expected.

* This excessive rainfall may result in flash flooding of small
streams and low water crossings as well as significant rises and
flooding of some main Stem rivers.

The Osage... Little Osage... Marmaton and Spring River basins along
with Lightning Creek will be impacted and could experience
flooding.

Those with outdoor recreational plans this Memorial Day weekend
including camping and floating along area rivers and streams
should be alert for rising water levels.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
