Special Statement
Issued: 2:46 PM CST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Strong northwest winds and cold conditions through early
evening...

Strong northwest winds behind an Arctic cold front will buffet the
area through 6 PM CST... before decreasing into the evening. The
winds will be sustained at 20 to near 30 mph... with gusts 30 to
40 mph through sunset. Temperatures dropping into the teens to the
upper single digits combined with these winds will create wind
chills of zero to 10 below along and north of I-80 by sunset.
Areas to the south will have wind chills in the low single digits
by 6 PM CST.

Drivers of high profile vehicles should be extra cautious late
this afternoon... especially on north to south roads. If you go
outside... remember that several layers of clothes will keep you
warmer than a single heavy coat. Wear a hat and mittens.
