Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:05 PM MDT on May 23, 2015

... Flood Watch in effect from 6 PM MDT this evening through
Monday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of South Dakota and northeastern
Wyoming... including the following areas... the Black Hills and
the adjacent foothills... the plains to the north and east of the
Black Hills... and also southwestern South Dakota and southern
Campbell County in northeastern Wyoming.

* From 6 PM MDT this evening through Monday afternoon

* storm total rainfall amounts of one to one and a half inches are
expected at many locations... especially from midnight tonight
through Sunday afternoon. Some areas along the eastern slopes of
the Black Hills... and over far southern Campbell County in
northeastern Wyoming... could receive around 2 inches of rain by
Monday afternoon.

* Creeks and streams in many locations are still running high from
the recent storms... especially along the eastern slopes of the
Black Hills and over southwestern South Dakota. The additional
rainfall may cause more flooding for those areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible along rivers and
creeks in the watch area... but is not imminent. If you are in the
watch area... take time to move livestock... equipment... and other
property from low lying areas before flooding occurs. Monitor
NOAA Weather Radio and local media for updated forecasts and be
ready to quickly move to higher ground if rising water levels are
observed or a warning is issued.
