Wet and unsettled weather continues for parts of the East and South on Tuesday as a cold front dropping southeastward across the Midwest reinforces another frontal boundary extending from the Northeast through the Central Plains. Expect rain and thunderstorm activity along and ahead the advancing cold front in parts of the Ohio Valley into New England, while a cooler airmass behind this cold front leads to cooler daytimes highs in the Upper Great Lakes and Northeast. Areas of isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop south of the main frontal disturbance from the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast through the Central and Southern Plains. Impulses from from the West will enhance precipitation eastern Oklahoma and northeastern Texas, as well as create the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms in parts of the Central and Southern High Plains. The Storm Prediction Center issued a slight risk of severe thunderstorm development from the late afternoon through the evening. While the main concerns with these storms are isolated areas of hail and damaging wind gusts, a localized tornado threat remains possible.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Covington.
* Until Wednesday evening.
* At 10:45 am Monday the stage was 20.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
Wednesday morning.
* At 20.5 feet... Williamsport Road may begin to flood in Fountain
County. This Road flooded in late December 2008 when river crested
at 21.5 feet on the Covington gage.

the Wabash River at Lafayette.
* Until late Tuesday night.
* At 10:30 am Monday the stage was 13.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
tomorrow afternoon.
* At 14.0 feet... lowland flooding is in progress. High water affects
river Cabins near north 9th street. Low County roads are nearly
impassable. Tapawingo park in West Lafayette begins to flood.

* From late tonight to Tuesday afternoon.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river is forecast to have a maximum value of 18.0
feet after midnight tomorrow.
* At 18.0 feet... River Road near Mecca and lowest areas of River Park
at Clinton begin to flood.

the Wabash River at Montezuma.
* Until Thursday morning.
* At 10:46 am Monday the stage was 17.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 17.6 feet by
after midnight tomorrow. The river will fall below flood stage
Wednesday before midnight.
* At 18.0 feet... Montezuma agricultural levee is overtopped.
Fourteen hundred acres of low bottomlands flood. Lowest
bottomlands flood.
