Special Statement
Issued: 5:01 AM EST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Periods of snow showers and much colder temperatures for the
first half of the upcoming week...

A series of upper level disturbances will affect eastern Kentucky
for the first half of the upcoming week. Initially... precipitation
will begin as a mixture of rain and snow late tonight into Monday
morning... before gradually turning to all snow by late Monday
afternoon. The only exception to this will be for elevations above
2500 feet... where mainly snow will fall. Periods of snow showers
will continue to affect the area from Monday night through
Wednesday morning... before gradually diminishing by late
Wednesday night.

In general... total snow accumulations from Monday through
Wednesday will average around 2 inches west of I-75... with 2 to 5
inches for most other locations. The highest snowfall amounts will
occur across the highest elevations of far eastern and
southeastern Kentucky... where 5 to 8 inches could fall. In
addition to the snow... temperatures will be turning much colder
once again... with highs mainly in the 20s by Tuesday and
Wednesday. Overnight lows will bottom out in the teens both
Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Stayed tuned for further updates.
