... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of east central
Kentucky... northeast Kentucky and southeast Kentucky...
including the following areas... in east central Kentucky...
Bath... Elliott... Estill... Fleming... Menifee... Montgomery...
Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky... Johnson and Martin.
In southeast Kentucky... Breathitt... Floyd... Knott... Lee...
Magoffin... Morgan... Pike and Wolfe.

* Through Friday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move over the
watch area through Friday morning. The high water content in
the air will likely result in times of torrential downpours.
This rainfall in conjunction with the heavy rains of the past
couple of days may lead to flash flooding across parts of the
watch area.

* There is a potential for rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches
across the watch area... though locally higher amounts will be
possible where thunderstorms train over top of the same
locations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

* until 230 PM EDT

* at 1136 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has
already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pikeville... Paintsville... Prestonsburg... Salyersville... Mason...
Estill... Coal Run Village... Martin... Forest Hills... Wayland...
Warfield... Allen... Brownlow... Chloe... Corn Fork Hollow...
