Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 10:55 PM EDT on July 01, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of south central Kentucky and
southeast Kentucky... including the following areas... in south
central Kentucky... Laurel... McCreary... Pulaski... Rockcastle...
Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky... Bell... Clay...
Harlan... Jackson... Knox... Leslie... Letcher... Owsley and Perry.

* Through Friday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move over the
watch area through Friday morning. The high water content in the
air will likely result in times of torrential downpours. This
rainfall in conjunction with the heavy rains of the past couple
of days may lead to flash flooding across parts of the watch
area.

* There is a potential for rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches
across the watch area... though locally higher amounts will be
possible where thunderstorms train over top of the same
locations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
