... Excessive heat warning in effect until 7 PM CDT Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued an excessive
heat warning... which is in effect until 7 PM CDT Wednesday. The
heat advisory is no longer in effect.

* Temperatures... peaking from 97 to 100 degrees.

* Heat indices... peaking from 111 to 114 degrees.

* Impacts... increased risk of heat related illnesses including
heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions... if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water. Heat stroke is an emergency...
call 9 1 1.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot
weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter
of minutes.
