Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 7:03 PM EDT on July 05, 2015

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Knox County in east Tennessee...
west central Jefferson County in east Tennessee...

* until 900 PM EDT

* at 702 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. One to two inches of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Knoxville... Jefferson City... New Market... Strawberry Plains...
Mascot and Piedmont.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as farm and country roads. Do not
attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

* abundant moisture and a slow moving upper level low pressure
system system will produce more additional showers and a few
thunderstorms.

* Widespread rains... locally heavy in some areas... may cause flash
flooding through early this evening.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for heavy
rain... which may lead to flooding in and near the watch area. If
you are in the watch area... .keep an eye out for rising water or
water over roadways. Keep informed... and be ready for action if
flooding is observed or if a Flood Warning is issued. If you
come to a closed or flooded Road... turn around! Don't drown!
