Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 8:16 PM EDT on July 05, 2015

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Polk County in east Tennessee...
northern Bradley County in east Tennessee...

* until 1015 PM EDT

* at 814 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. One to two inches of rain have already
fallen... with some additional rainfall possible over the next
couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cleveland... Benton... Charleston... Calhoun... Tasso and Hopewell.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
