* Flash Flood Warning for...
Jefferson County in central Alabama...

* until 930 am CDT

* at 629 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Birmingham... Hoover... Vestavia Hills... Bessemer... Homewood...
Mountain Brook... Trussville... Hueytown... Gardendale... Irondale...
Leeds... Moody... Fairfield... Fultondale... Sumiton... Center Point...

The National Weather Service in Birmingham al has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Village Creek at at Avenue W.
* Until late tonight... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 6:15 am Saturday the stage was 8.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage later this morning with a crest
near 12.8 feet at 11 am today.
* Impact... at 13.0 feet... residential flooding occurs in the Ensley
area and evacuations will likely be necessary. Persons in low lying
areas near the creek should move to higher ground.

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Alabama... east
central Alabama... northeast Alabama... northwest Alabama and
west central Alabama... including the following areas... in
central Alabama... Blount... Jefferson... Shelby... St. Clair...
Talladega and Walker. In east central Alabama... Calhoun...
Clay... Cleburne and Randolph. In northeast Alabama... Cherokee
and Etowah. In northwest Alabama... Marion and Winston. In west
central Alabama... Fayette... Lamar... Pickens and Tuscaloosa.

* Through Sunday morning

* heavy rainfall will continue to move across the region with
widespread additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches and
isolated amounts of 5 to 7 inches.

* Saturated soils from rainfall over the past few days along with
the additional rainfall may cause flash flooding of area
roadways... low lying areas... and urban small streams.
