Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:33 PM EDT on July 04, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northeast Georgia... western North Carolina and
upstate South Carolina... including the following areas... in
northeast Georgia... Elbert... Franklin... Habersham... Hart...
Rabun and Stephens. In western North Carolina... Graham...
Haywood... Macon... Madison... northern Jackson... southern
Jackson and Swain. In upstate South Carolina... greater Oconee
and Oconee mountains.

* Through Sunday evening

* the threat for heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms
will increase tonight through Sunday. Additional rainfall of 2
or 3 inches will be possible in the parts of the watch
area... and this rainfall will affect locations where the ground
is already saturated from recent rainfall.

* Rivers and streams in the southwest North Carolina mountains and
the upper Savannah River valley will rise with the anticipated
rainfall through Sunday. Periods of heavy downpours with any
thunderstorms may cause rapid rises along streams and
creeks... and associated flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
