Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 11:01 PM EST on February 26, 2015

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST
Friday...

* locations... the Piedmont and northern coastal plain including
The Triad... Triangle... Rocky Mount and surrounding areas.

* Hazard types... .black ice is expected tonight across much of
central North Carolina. In addition... a hard freeze of the snow
and ice.

* Timing... through late morning Friday.

* Impacts... freezing of meltwater will create areas of black ice.
The refreezing of the ice and snow pack will result in tricky
travel and walking conditions. Be extremely cautions on area
roads... streets... sidewalks... parking lots... steps and even
on interstates... especially the bridges... overpasses... and
ramps.

* Temperatures... temperatures will fall into the 20s through the
overnight and remain subfreezing through mid morning Friday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The best way to avoid problems with black ice is to simply avoid
travel and walking tonight and Friday morning if possible. If you
must travel... take it slow and leave plenty of following distance.

Special Statement
Statement as of 8:18 PM EST on February 26, 2015

... Dangerous patches of black ice developing...

The skies have quickly cleared over a good portion of the Piedmont
this evening. This has led to rapid freezing of meltwater and
slush that remained on area roads. All area roads... bridges...
overpasses... parking lots... and side walks will quickly refreeze
in the next few hours as temperatures fall into the upper 20s.

Motorists should use extreme caution... even on the main
interstates and city streets as meltwater may quickly become a
sheet of ice.

Pedestrians should also use extreme caution as falls become much
more common after winter storms.
