... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from noon Thursday to
midnight EST Thursday night...

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory... which is in effect from noon Thursday to
midnight EST Thursday night.

* Areas affected: portions of southeast Virginia... including the
peninsula... Surry County... and Northampton County on the Eastern
Shore.

* Hazards: snow and sleet.

* Timing: rain will mix with sleet by early afternoon. A
transition to a snow/sleet mix is expected by mid to late
afternoon Thursday. Precipitation ends as mainly snow by
Thursday evening.

* Accumulations: snow and sleet 1 to 3 inches... along with trace
amounts of ice.

* Temperatures: mid 30s... falling into the upper 20s by early
Thursday evening.

* Winds: north 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

* Impacts: roads will become snow and sleet covered by late
afternoon Thursday. Visibilities will drop to around a quarter-
mile at times late Thursday afternoon or early in the evening... making
travel dangerous.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
