* Through this evening

* heavy rain showers are expected to continue today as a

* Rainfall rates as high as 2 inches per hour are possible...
which would cause flash flooding in urban and poor drainage
areas. These rainfall rates... and saturated ground from heavy

streams and small rivers to go over bankfull in northeastern
New Jersey... the lower Hudson Valley and southern Connecticut.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
