... Winter Storm Watch in effect from midnight EST tonight through
Saturday evening...
... Wind chill warning remains in effect from midnight Saturday
night to 10 am EST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in gray has issued a Winter Storm
Watch... which is in effect from midnight EST tonight through
Saturday evening.

* Hazard types... dangerous wind chill readings and the potential
for heavy snow.

* Snow accumulations... snow accumulation of 5 to 8 inches with
locally higher amounts possible.

* Wind chill... as low as 35 below zero.

* Timing... snow will develop after midnight tonight... with the
heaviest snow expected during the day Saturday. Dangerously cold
wind chills are expected Saturday night.

* Impacts... snow covered and slick roads are expected on Saturday.
Frostbite and hypothermia if unprotected from the cold.

* Winds... north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... 8 below to 18 above zero.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and
strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This
will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if
precautions are not taken.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Special Statement
Issued: 1:56 PM EST Feb. 12, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Extremely dangerous wind chills expected in the mountains...

Anyone considering climbing or hiking in the White Mountains of
Maine or New Hampshire this weekend should consider cancelling or
postponing their trip. Extremely dangerous wind chill temperatures
will affect the region... especially above tree line. The
combination of the cold and wind will create life-threatening
conditions for anyone caught outside and unable to reach safety.

Wind chill temperatures Saturday will range from about -30 in the
lower elevations to about -60 in exposed areas near the peaks.
Wind chill values Saturday night will drop to -40 in the lower
elevations to near -70 near the peaks. Wind chill temperatures
will climb only to the -20 to -50 by Sunday evening.

A wind chill temperature of -35 can freeze exposed skin in 10
minutes. Wind chill temperatures below -50 can freeze exposed skin
in less than 5 minutes.

Be safe... don't take chances.
