Statement as of 12:29 PM CDT on March 20, 2010 ... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Sunday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Sunday. * Timing... snow will continue across the area into Sunday... with half to three quarters of a inch per hour rates expected for most of the afternoon and night. * Snow accumulations... of 6 to 8 inches are likely across the area... with 8 to 11 inches possible southeast of a line from Erie to Coffeyville. The highest totals are expected around Chetopa. * Impacts... from the late season snow include slick roads. The heavy wet snow may cause damage to outdoor vegetation which has already sprouted leaves. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning means significant winter weather is expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
