... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this
afternoon above 7000 feet...

* locations include the cities of... Aspen... Vail... Ridgway...
Glade Park.

* Timing... light snow this morning will become heavy this
afternoon.

* Snow accumulation... additional 2 to 4 inches with higher amounts.

* Winds... west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph over higher
terrain.

* Impacts... travel is expected to become difficult this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

... Avalanche warning extended for the southern San Juan and northern
San Juan Mountains, the Ruby Range, and the West Elk Mountains...

Another foot of snow along with strong wind is expected overnight.
This will keep the avalanche danger elevated through tomorrow
morning. Natural and human triggered avalanches remain likely on all
steep slopes.

Backcountry travel into or below avalanche terrain is not
recommended at this time.

A strong winter storm has deposited a foot of new snow thus far and
periods of heavy snowfall and increasing winds are forecast for the
next couple days. Natural and human triggered avalanches are likely
on all steep slopes today.
