Season Snowfall: Biggest "Underachievers"
As most seasons, there are also cities that have repeatedly missed the mark.
The slideshow above shows our top 5 snowfall "duds" in the 2012-2013 season, again, ranked by percent of average season snow through Feb. 28.
Given our criteria excluding cities averaging less than 10" season-to-date, we didn't include Seattle (0.6") and Portland, Ore. (0"). However, the lack of snow in the I-5 corridor this year is quite a contrast from a snow and ice-jammed Seattle in January 2012, one of last winter's worst storms.
Three of the five "dud" cities are in the Mid-Atlantic states. Either it's been just a tad too warm (cold rain, instead of snow), or East Coast storms have intensified too far to the Northeast to dump significant snow in those locations.
