Waterspouts Form on Lakes
iWitness weather user 'daisymaye3' from Linesville, PA submitted this photo. He wrote, "My grandson on the beach playing while a waterspout formed behind him out on the lake."
Tornado Expert Dr. Greg Forbes says waterspouts can, indeed, form on lakes. However, he says they are very weak and usually dissipate before reaching shore. However, boaters and others on the water should avoid them because winds may reach 80-100 m.p.h.
