If our iWitness photo submissions are any indication, the bird watchers among us are fascinated with cardinals. When trees are covered with snow, cardinals are particularly stunning. The males are a bright shade of red; females are brown with red accents. Cardinals don't migrate or molt into a dull plumage. The cardinal is so well loved that it has been named the official bird of seven states and the mascot for several sports teams.
