Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, May 20, 2013.

Two strong weather systems will bring more active weather to Asia on Monday. In the east, a low pressure system spinning over far northeastern China will continue producing scattered showers and thunderstorms, with lighter rain showers extending into North Korea. At the same time, a trough of low pressure will extend south from this system and over the Sea of Japan. This will push moisture into Japan and bring moderate to heavy showers to most of central and eastern Japan on Monday. Tokyo will be overcast and rainy with highs in the lower 70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). To the west, a strong and broad low pressure system over southwestern China will create unsettled weather for most of southern China. Flow around this system pushes abundant moisture in from the South China Sea, allowing for heavy rain and strong thunderstorms to develop from northern Vietnam, through Taiwan, and northward into Chongqing. Hong Kong will be cloudy with thunderstorms and highs near 90(F)/ 32(C), while Shanghai will be dry with increasingly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-80s(F)/ upper 20s(C).

In Australia, wet weather returns to the west as a low pressure system moves into Western Australia from the Indian Ocean. This will bring shower and thunderstorm activity to most of Western Australia on Monday. However in the east, high pressure maintains warm and dry conditions. Sydney will be partly cloudy with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C).
